NOTORIOUS FOR NEVER TAKING THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY THE DESIGNER SPENT HIS LIFE BOTH IN THE PHILIPPINES AND THE U.S. AFTER A CHILDHOOD ROOTED IN FANTASY AND SCI-FI, CHRIS REVELED IN 90’S GAY COUNTER-CULTURE, AND THE TWO WORLDS BECAME ONE. THIS DUALITY IS NOW INGRAINED IN HIS IDENTITY AND THE RESULT IS A CLEAN AND DARING LINE FIT FOR GIRLS, BOYS, AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN.

IN 2004 CHRISHABANA WON THE SUPPORT OF GEN ART BEING NAMED ONE OF THEIR FRESH FACES. EARLY COLLECTIONS GARNERED ATTENTION FROM JAPANESE RETAILERS SUCH AS BEAMS; HOWEVER, IT WASN’T UNTIL 2007 AFTER RECEIVING HIS SECOND RECOGNITION, THE NEW GARDE AWARD, THAT THE DESIGNER DEVELOPED THE SELF-TITLED ACCESSORIES LINE AS IT IS KNOWN TODAY.

SINCE THEN CHRISHABANA HAS WORKED ON SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATIONS WITH RETAILERS INCLUDING SEVEN NEW YORK, OAK AND URBAN OUTFITTERS. THE 2011 COLLABORATION WITH URBAN OUTIFTTERS LEAD TO THE LAUNCH OF MY ENEMY BY CHRISHABANA A YOUTH-DRIVEN DIFFUSION COLLECTION. THE LINE WAS OPENED TO ALL SHOPS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SPRING/SUMMER 2012 AND HAS ALREADY BEEN FEATURED IN VOGUE ITALIA AND THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE OF ZINK.

CHRISHABANA WAS SELECTED TO PRESENT HIS SPRING/SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION AT MAC & MILK SUDIOS. HE FOLLOWED UP WITH A SECOND PRESENTATION AT HP GALLERY FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2012 THIS TIME NOT ONLY SHOWING CHRISHABANA BUT ALSO OFFICIALLY DEBUTING MY ENEMY. THE SHOW WAS COVERED BY WOMEN’S WEAR DAILY. PIECES HAVE ALSO BEEN FEATURED IN FASHION SHOWS FROM HOOD BY AIR, GERLAN JEANS, LOGAN NIETZEL AND GEOFFERY MAC.

CURRENTLY, CHRISHABANA IS WORKING ON AN ON-GOING COLLABORATION WITH RISING SPANISH DESIGNER ASSAAD AWAAD. PIECES HAVE BEEN SELECTED BY NICOLA FORMICHETTI FOR CURATED POP-UP STORES IN BOTH NEW YORK AND JAPAN. THE DESIGNER IS ALSO FINALIZING A CAPSULE COLLECTION OF EXCLUSIVES FOR JOYCE HONG KONG THAT WILL BE AVAILBLE IN STORES FALL 2012.

THE LINE HAS SOLD WORLDWIDE IN BOTH EDGY AND COMMERCIAL SHOPS INCLUDING: LANE CRAWFORD, KABIRI AT SELFRIDGES, HOLT RENFREW AND HARVEY NICHOLS, AS WELL AS BEING FEATURED IN PUBLICATIONS SUCH AS V MAGAZINE, i-D, ELLE, DAZED AND CONFUSED, NYLON, AND THE NEW YORK TIMES. PIECES HAVE BEEN WORN BY CELEBRITIES FROM NIKKI MINAJ AND JUSTIN BIEBER TO DREW BARRYMOORE AND PARKER POSEY.
